Fund raising
This Is What We Want To Achieve:
Children with Disability NZ is a Northland, New Zealand-based registered charity striving to bring enjoyment to disabled children's lives. Part of our focus is on the lack of facilities in New Zealand catering to disabled children. Our mission! To make Northland the most disability-friendly region in New Zealand and follow through to other NZ cities. Why are we fundraising? Our first item was a wheelchair swing, which has been installed and now being used in Waipu. We had an agreement with the Whangarei District Council that our charity would contribute $10,000 towards this project which is now complete.
We have reached our goal. We have contributed this first $10,000? We now have a second agreement with Whangārei District Council: We have an agreement with the Whangarei District Council that our charity will contribute $10,000 towards this project an accessible seesaw for Raumanga Park in Whangarei. For this reason Children with Disability NZ is now fundraising for an accessible seesaw for Raumanga Park in Whangarei.
The beauty of these products is that they are accessible for wheelchair users but are also multi-use for all children. Our charity has a focus on improving the outcomes for disabled children and young adults.
We intend to submit plans for upcoming playground and park developments right across New Zealand.
Please consider giving a little; we have a "Give a Little" page here. Legacy Plans We have introduced four legacy plans for anybody considering leaving a legacy. We rely completely on donations to buy this equipment, just as we rely on councils such as Whangarei to take on board the needs of all people. If you can afford it, please consider donating.
Together, We Can Make A Difference In Our Community!
Pohe Island playground in Whangarei had planned two round in-ground trampolines. I Googled wheelchair-accessible trampolines and found a New Zealand supplier. I then wrote to the council, supplying the supplier's details and asking they replace the two small in-ground trampolines with one larger, oblong-shaped wheelchair accessible trampoline.
An agreement was reached. I then asked also for a wheelchair-accessible carousel; this was not in the council's plans, but plans can change, so again an agreement was reached. Our founders are giving their time and effort for free.
Fundraising will always be required, as the first goal is the wheelchair swing. Many goals will follow; ideally, we would like a hospice-style shop, but that will take time. The funds raised will provide better experiences for disabled children.
My job within this charity is multifunctional. First, I am both the CEO and CMO in charge of marketing, but I am also an advisor and consultant. I am the IT man, and as such, I am aware technology is advancing at incredible speed. Decisions on how funds will be spent will be dependent on the best value they will bring in the shortest timeframe. Glen McMillan 26-04-2023.
