Children with Disability NZ
Supporting Disabled Children, Families and Communities
Children with Disability NZ is a New Zealand-based registered charity dedicated to supporting disabled children, families, whānau, schools, communities, and organisations through advocacy, inclusion projects, practical resources, and lived-experience knowledge. Our work is built around the belief that every child deserves to feel seen, valued, respected, and included in everyday life.
We understand that inclusion is not just about good intentions. It requires practical action, accessible environments, better information, community awareness, and a willingness to listen to disabled people and their families. Through our growing network of websites, we provide resources that help explain disability, accessibility, sensory needs, inclusive play, communication, family support, and disability awareness in ways that are warm, respectful, and easy to understand.
Our charity has been created through lived experience and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for disabled children across Aotearoa New Zealand. We aim to support families who may feel isolated, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin, while also helping schools, councils, educators, support workers, and community groups better understand what real inclusion looks like in practice.
Children with Disability NZ is also working to build practical projects that create visible change in the community. This includes inclusive playground advocacy, accessible design guidance, disability awareness resources, sensory learning tools, inclusive storytelling, and online information that can be shared widely. Each part of our network has a different role, but all of it supports the same mission: inclusion, accessibility, participation, and belonging.
